Classes, Streams & SubjectsAdmin

Setting up the classes, streams, and subjects your school teaches before you start admitting students or entering results.

← All guides

Before admitting students or entering results, your class, stream, and subject structure needs to be set up — everything else (admissions, timetables, report cards) depends on it.

1. Classes

Go to Settings → Classes and add every class level your school runs, in order (e.g. Creche, KG1, KG2, Basic 1 … Basic 6, JHS 1 – 3). This list drives every class dropdown across the system.

2. Streams (optional)

If a class level is split into multiple sections (e.g. Basic 3A and 3B), add streams from the same Classes screen, then use Stream Assignment under Students to place each student in the correct stream.

3. Subjects

Go to Settings → Subjects and list every subject taught anywhere in the school (Mathematics, English, Science, etc.).

4. Class Setup — linking subjects to classes

Go to Class Setup to choose which subjects apply to each class level — JHS classes might take French while lower primary doesn't, for example. This filtered list is what appears when teachers enter results or build a timetable for that class.

Quick Steps

  1. Settings → Classes to add every class level your school runs (e.g. Basic 1 – JHS 3).
  2. Settings → Subjects to define the subject list your school teaches.
  3. Class Setup to link which subjects are taught in which class, and set up streams (e.g. 3A/3B).
