Library ManagementLibrarian
Cataloguing books, managing borrowing and returns, tracking overdue items, and generating library usage reports.
The Library module digitalises your entire book catalogue and lending process — no more handwritten cards. Every borrowing transaction is date-stamped and linked to the student, making overdue tracking instant.
1. Setting Up the Catalogue
Go to Operations → Library → Add Book. Fill in: Title, Author, ISBN (optional), Category, Publisher, Year, and number of Copies. The number of copies controls how many students can borrow the same title simultaneously.
2. Issuing a Book
- Go to Library → Issue Book.
- Search for the student by name or ID.
- Search for the book by title or ISBN.
- Set the due-return date and click Issue. The available copies count decrements automatically.
3. Returning a Book
When a student returns a book, go to Library → Returns, locate the open borrowing record (search by student or book), and click Mark Returned. If the return is late, the system flags it as overdue and can optionally record a fine.
4. Overdue Report
The Overdue Items report lists every borrowing that has passed its due date — with the student name, class, book title, and how many days overdue. Use it to follow up with classes or print a reminder list for the teacher.
5. Library Statistics
Under Library → Statistics, see: Total books, Total copies, Books currently on loan, Most borrowed titles, Most active borrowers, and borrowing trend by month.
Tips
- Create categories (Fiction, Non-fiction, Science, Reference) to keep searches fast.
- If a book is lost, mark it as Lost instead of returned — this deducts from stock permanently and can trigger a fine.
- You can upload a photo of each book cover for a nicer catalogue view.
